Sean-Nós Nua

Bodhráns were an important fixture of my childhood ina Brummie-Irish home. For my mom, they were beautiful pieces of decor with detailed illustrations. For my child self, Bodhráns were a temptation too hard to resist: the colourful drums had to be played. But banging the Bodhrán quickly distorted and warped the design, permanently altering the instrument.

Using this memory, I painted my alien--likeness on a Bodhrán. The more perform and play with it, the more it will change, showing the long-term effect of the music and movement of the tipper.
