Created in response to the feeling of being overwhelmed, an emotion commonly experienced by autistic people, this performance piece features a hat made of floor-length stretches of yarn. The hat completely covers my body when worn, yet still allows me to see out. I can choose to mask or interact with people if I want, but if not I can conceal myself in the hat. This also allows me to eliminate the perception of my gender.
DESCRIPTION: A wide, flat brimmed hat made of floor-length pieces of string in various shades of blues. A pair of blue elbow length gloves protrude from the hat, but the wearer cannot be seen.
